March 8, 2024 1:00 PM ET: CSHS Workshop: Time Series and Random Fields in Hydroclimatology – Analysis and Generation with CoSMoS

In Archived Event, Archived NRCan, Archived Online, Archived Training, Archived Webinars

This CSHS workshop examines the creation of synthetic time series and random fields that faithfully replicate the characteristics of observed data. Topics addressed include understanding the statistical characteristics of hydroclimatic time series, building basic stochastic models, and using Unified Stochastic Modeling Theory. The workshop will cover the material using worked examples where participants will have the opportunity to apply stochastic techniques using the CoSMoS (Complete Stochastic Modeling Solution) R library.

By the end of the workshop, participants will gain practical insights into synthesizing hydroclimatic data, making use of a comprehensive toolkit that includes theoretical understanding, model development, and application using user-friendly programming tools. The focus will be on time series generation, yet advanced concepts, such as multisite generation and random fields in space and time, will also be demonstrated.
