Presentation Topic: Water Related Infrastructure Under Changing Climate

Abstract:Over the past eight years, the National Research Council of Canada has led three major initiatives focused on the impacts of climate change on infrastructure. The first two initiatives, Climate-Resilient Building and Core Public Infrastructure, and Climate-Resilient Built Environment, emphasized the adaptation of infrastructure to climate change. In contrast, the third initiative, the National Platform for Decarbonization of the Construction Industry, is focused on mitigation efforts to combat climate change by reducing greenhouse gas emissions. This presentation will cover various past and ongoing projects under these two themes, particularly focusing on water-related infrastructure such as distribution systems, collection systems, and dams, providing an overview of these efforts.
