October 27, 2021 1PM ET: SYP Water Talks: Coastal Engineering and Tsunamis – Marieh Rajaie
Marieh Rajaie will be presenting on her PhD research regarding the correlation between pore pressure variations and scour depths due to having different variables (tsunami bore depths, bed slopes, bed conditions). Thereby, it would be possible to predict scour depths and keep the foundation depths below soil level and keep inland structures serviceable during tsunami incidents.
Marieh Rajaie is currently a PhD student in Coastal Engineering at the University of Ottawa. She holds a Master’s degree in “River Engineering/ Civil Engineering” from Tehran/ Iran. During her Master’s, she published two books with her supervisors and now is publishing several conference and journal papers with her current supervisors. She also has some experiences of working in industrial fields and teaching in universitiesas an instructor. Marieh is a member of the SWE Ottawa Leadership Team and an EIT member.
