Position available: Stormwater Technician

About:

Reporting to the Manager, Stormwater Programs, prepares and maintains various geographical tools to support roadway infrastructure assets and operations, including graphic and attribute data, maps, mailing lists and statistics. Provides guidance and direction to students. Primary duties include:

Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintain and update graphic and attribute data for roadway infrastructure assets and roadway operations and maintenance activities including seasonal operations, roads, sidewalks, multiuse trails, catch basins, storm sewers, etc. using geographic information systems (GIS) software, Microstation, etc.
  • Liaise with staff across the corporation to coordinate activities and assess requirements.
  • Perform measurements and statistical data as required.
  • Prepare maps, both digital and hardcopy for roadway infrastructure assets, operations and maintenance activities, etc.
  • Provide information to staff to support public inquiries, including aerial photos, property information, addresses and measurements.
  • Prepare mailing lists for notification of property owners and/or tenants related to infrastructure work, including leaf collection, property maintenance, etc.
  • Compile asset statistics related to roadway infrastructure including road network, urban storm sewer, bridges, culverts, etc. and provide to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Assist the Supervisor/Manager with selection and training of cooperative program students.
  • Perform similar and related duties as assigned.

Position available: Team Lead, Operations Engineering

Location: Calgary, Alberta

About:

As the Team Lead, Operations Engineer, you will supervise a team of professional engineers who provide direct field support and expertise to operations, maintenance, and repair crews servicing the wastewater collection network. Primary duties include:

Key Responsibilities:
  • Direct supervision for team career planning, professional development, workload balancing and prioritization, sponsor/SME engagement, coordination of internal and external requests, and safety compliance.
  • Support and oversight of key components of team projects including procurement strategies, stage gate submissions, capital reporting, and project management for small to medium scale capital projects.
  • Monitor, work assignment, negotiation, and recommendations for by-pass pumping permit requests.
  • Monitor, escalation, and resolution of customer inquiries and complaints through 311.

Position available: Wastewater Optimization Extension Specialist

Location: Cambridge, Ontario

About:

This position will support the Supervisor of Water Quality in the delivery of the GRCA’s Watershed-wide Wastewater Optimization Program. The program involves working with local municipalities and wastewater operators to encourage best practices and optimize the environmental performance of wastewater treatment plants. Program elements include collecting and assessing information on current wastewater treatment plant performance and capacity; facilitating hands-on training workshops for wastewater professionals; delivering a recognition program for Optimization Program partners; creating marketing and communication materials for the program; and supporting the Watershed-wide Wastewater Optimization Program steering committee.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Work with municipal staff, MECP and contractors to collect information on wastewater treatment plant performance.
  • Participate as a member of an evaluation team to identify opportunities to optimize wastewater treatment plant performance.
  • Apply analytical and technical skills to troubleshoot causes of poor wastewater treatment plant performance.
  • Prepare clear and concise technical reports demonstrating excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Apply facilitation, teaching, training and leadership abilities to the delivery of training workshops.

Position Available: Source Water Hydrogeologist

The Grand River Conservation Authority (GRCA) is seeking a Source Water Hydrogeologist to support the Lake Erie Source Protection Region under Ontario’s Clean Water Act, 2006. This role applies hydrogeological expertise to coordinate technical studies, support assessment report and plan updates, and contribute to groundwater protection strategies. Reporting to the Source Protection Program Manager, the position supports collaboration across conservation authorities, municipalities, and provincial partners.

Primary duties include:
