Description: Join us for an insightful session on York Region’s I&I reduction program.
Learn about York Region’s long-standing efforts to reduce inflow and infiltration (I&I) in the sanitary sewer system.
This session will explore how York Region has developed one of the most mature and data-driven I&I reduction programs in Ontario, built on comprehensive system monitoring, targeted rehabilitation, and close collaboration with local municipalities.
We will also highlight the evolution of the program, the measurable benefits seen across the community, and the lessons learned from being an early leader in this space.
Speaker Bio: Ranin Nseir, M.Eng., P.Eng. is a Project Manager, Wastewater Demand Analysis & Programs at The Regional Municipality of York with over 15 years of experience in infrastructure engineering and municipal water systems. Her work blends engineering excellence with innovation and strategic programming, specializing in asset management, wastewater collection systems monitoring, inflow and infiltration (I&I) reduction, and data-driven planning for sustainability and climate resilience. Ranin is leading York Region’s comprehensive I&I Reduction Strategy, driving initiatives for system optimization, robust system monitoring, and climate resilience. Her collaborative approach extends to nurturing strong partnerships with external stakeholders. She holds a Master of Engineering from the University of Toronto, is a licensed Professional Engineer, and actively contributes to WEAO, WEFTEC, and Water Canada committees.
