June 15-19: CWRA 2025 National Conference
Where: Winnipeg, Manitoba
When: June 15-19, 2026
About:
With great excitement and enthusiasm, we’d like to invite our colleagues from across Canada to join us for next year’s annual CWRA conference. The Conference will take place on Treaty 1 Territory, the ancestral lands of the Anishinaabeg (Ojibway), Ininew (Cree), Ojibway-Cree, Dakota, and Dene Peoples, and the birthplace and national homeland of the Red River Métis Nation, where the Red and Assiniboine rivers meet in the City of Winnipeg, Manitoba.
The theme for the Conference is Water is the essence of life. Across cultures and generations, water is revered as sacred: a purifier, a healer, a symbol of renewal. The “Spirit of Water” expresses this deeper relationship. It reminds us that water is a living part of our ecosystem, one that sustains all forms of life and connects us to one another and to the land. Across our Homelands, waterways have shaped our histories, our travel, and our survival, influencing how our Ancestors moved, traded, and built community.
The technical programs and workshops will support the conference theme with a variety of programs and presentations that illustrate practical action taken to address shared water across multiple jurisdictions and watersheds, creating new partnerships to manage water resources, the decision-making and stewardship of and by Indigenous communities, and creating resilience for our share water future.
