Webinar description:
This webinar will present different sources of climate data and information that are available for Atlantic Canada, with a focus on products relevant to water resources. An overview of the material available will include Atlantic-wide datasets on climatedata.ca such as precipitation, sea level change and IDF curves, and highlights from different provinces such as flood hazard mapping and erosion products, and climate change risk assessments.

Speakers:

Climatlantic Experts: Alex Cadel (Nova Scotia Specialist) and Emma Poirier (Science & Adaptation Specialist)

Emma is in the role of Climate Change Science and Adaptation Specialist with CLIMAtlantic. Her background includes a MSc in Applied Science from Saint Mary’s University focused on coastal geomorphology. While working in government, academia, and now non-profit, she has gained experience in climate change adaptation, habitat ecology, and coastal restoration; providing project coordination and data analysis. She enjoys using data and technology to understand our physical environment.

Alex holds a Master of Climate Change degree (University of Waterloo) and B.Sc. in Environmental Sciences (University of Guelph). He brings experience in downscaling and analyzing localized climate change projections, adaptation planning in the forestry sector, and managing climate change projects with the Confederacy of Mainland Mi’kmaq. Alex’s current work involves supporting Nova Scotians in accessing, understanding, and applying climate change data to adaptation decision-making.
