Invasive Species Removal with the BC SYP and Invasive Species Council of BC
When: Saturday September 24, 10am-1pm
Where: Glenbrook Ravine Park, New Westminster
What: CWRA BC SYP is partnering with the Invasive Species Council of BC to help with removing invasive species in an important local waterway.  A solid amount of blackberry canes were removed at an earlier event in August and we’ll be working on continuing to clear and prep that same section of the slope for an October planting event.  While we will be working on the slope, for those who are unable to do work on steep terrain we have some flat areas in the ravine that are in need of some Morning glory/Field bindweed removal.

Schedule:

We will pull weeds 10am-12pm and then head back to the Amenities Center for a picnic before heading out.

What to Bring:

Please ensure you come equipped with appropriate footwear (something with ankle support and closed toes) and dress for the weather (sunscreen/long sleeve shirt/hat if it’s hot and sunny, a rain jacket/waterproof jacket if it’s raining). Dressing in layers is recommended.  Light snacks will be provided for all attendees!  Otherwise, please ensure you bring the following:

·        Your own water bottle or two filled with water

·        Your own work gloves (if you have them; we will have some spare gloves on site)

·        Your own tools if you’re able (we will have some tools handy for participants)

RSVP:

Email syp@cwra.org to let us know if you’re attending!

Carpool: If you can offer a carpool or need a carpool, please indicate where you are starting from in your email, and we will try and pair you up.

Waiver & exact location instructions will be sent to you after your RSVP.
