This presentation explores Canada’s hydrometric monitoring network—how water levels and river flows are measured across the country through a network of gauging stations coordinated by federal, provincial, and territorial partners.  It also examines the National Hydrological Service’s role in strategic transboundary water management. The presentation highlights how hydrometric data underpins decision-making in transboundary water agreements, drought and flood management, infrastructure planning, and climate resilience. By connecting data collection with governance, this session underscores the critical role of monitoring in ensuring sustainable, cooperative, and science-based water management across borders.
