Presentation Topic: Water Plant Raw Water Supply Intake Structure Upgrades

Abstract: This topic will be a presentation related to the roles and responsibilities of the professional engineer related to the upgrades of an existing water plant’s raw water supply. The presentation will discuss the general design and design basis related to intake structure, constraints, and challenges, as well as the approach and methodology employed to address these constraints and challenges.

Speaker: Gaëtan Beauchesne

Bio: Gaëtan has over 30 years of consulting engineering experience. His engineering background has allowed him to lead multi-disciplinary teams of professionals and deliver high quality projects in Canada. He possesses the technical skills to ensure the quality of work and the management skills necessary to maintain schedules, budget commitments and manage scope change. Gaëtan’s technical expertise includes environmental assessments, planning, engineering design and construction administration for infrastructure projects including water resources developments, water treatment, supply and distribution systems, sanitary sewerage collection, water & wastewater pumping stations, roadways, drainage, stormwater management and waste management.

Mr. Beauchesne is currently the manager of the Water and Wastewater business line in the EXP Ottawa office where he oversees various Civil Infrastructure projects as well as manages various standing offers with the City of Ottawa, National Capital Region (NCR), Public Works Government Services Canada (PWGSC), Defence Construction Canada (DCC) and surrounding municipalities for various infrastructure engineering projects in Canada.
