January-February 2022: SK Branch Virtual HEC-RAS Training Sessions

In Archived Online, Archived SK, Archived Training

The Saskatchewan Branch of the Canadian Water Resources Association is hosting virtual HEC-RAS training sessions in January and February 2022. The training will be delivered to small classes (maximum of 15 participants) through Microsoft Teams and consists of a mix of lectures and hands on workshops.

The registration deadline for these courses is January 17th, 2022.

Course Registrants will receive login information and course materials in the week prior to the event. If you have not received that email by Friday before your class, please email info@cwra.org.

Course Waitlist: There is a small possibility that a space may open up in one or more of these courses if someone is unable to attend. If you are interested in registering for the course in the event of a cancellation, please email info@cwra.org with the course name and ‘waitlist’ in the subject heading. If slots do become available, we will contact the people on the waitlist in order, with a short time period to finish their registration before we offer the spot to the next person. If we offer these courses again, we will email people on the waitlists who were not able to register for these classes.

Instructors

The course will be delivered by expert instructors from WEST Consultants that have extensive experience using the model.

Raymond Walton, PH.D., P.E., D.WRE, F.ASCE is the Lead Hydraulic Engineer for WEST Consultants’ Bellevue, Washington Office. Dr. Walton has about 45 years of experience directing water resources studies throughout the US and abroad. He is a nationally recognized expert in multi-dimensional modeling of surface water, groundwater and water quality systems. In 2019, he was named the Outstanding Practitioner by the American Academy of Water Resources Engineers.  Prior to joining WEST, he worked at the Hydraulics Research Station in the UK, taught at North Carolina State University, and spent 15 years with large nationwide consulting engineering firms.

Erik McCarthy, P.E. is a senior hydraulic engineer with WEST Consultants and has eight years of experience. He is a member of the hydrologic and hydraulic modeling team at WEST’s Salem office. He has extensive hydrologic and hydraulic modeling experience with HEC-RAS (steady, unsteady, 2D, and dam breach), HEC-HMS, and HEC-RTS (flood forecasting). His experience has generally focused on 1D/2D stormwater modeling, 1D/2D river system modeling, hydrologic modeling, hydromodification analysis, and flood forecast modeling. Since 2016 he has been an instructor for a 3-day HEC-RAS course that is offered through ASCE Continuing Education.
