October 23, 2023 1PM ET: CSHS: Natural Channel Design: lessons and opportunities in failure
Failures are wonderful learning opportunities; they’re great illustrations of what *not* to do. In that spirit, please join us for three repeat presentations from the CWRA-affiliated 2023 Conference on Natural Channel Systems. All three presentations show a failure in natural channel design in either form or function: either through erosion of the feature or by barring fish passage. The first two are modern examples of natural channel design and the third is a potential natural channel design to restore fish passage. The titles and presenters are as follows:
Lessons Learned: Design Considerations for Long-Term Stability and Function of Riffles in ‘Natural’ Channel Design
Presented by Chris Cummings, CAN-CISEC, Matrix Solutions Inc., Mississauga ON
Anatomy of a Failed Stream Restoration Project in BC

Restoring Fish Passage in the Eagle River after 100 Years
